OVERVIEW

The Manual Handling for Support Workers teaches employees the safe ways to lift, carry, push, or pull objects to prevent injury in the context of the role of a support worker. It covers essential topics like proper posture, body mechanics, and lifting techniques, as well as the risks of manual handling tasks such as back pain and musculoskeletal injuries. Students will undertake a practical component to safely move a client, using slide sheets and patient lifters, wheelchair manoeuvring and falls recovery.

Learners will receive a Certificate of Attendance for day of training.
